The length of shingles symptoms can vary, however, there are different stages. Rashes and blisters can usually clear up within a month. However, pain associated with shingles can last up to several years, which may indicate postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The symptoms of PHN are similar to shingles and include intense burning or aching pain and hypersensitivity or decreased reaction to touch.
