I’ve avoided seeking treatment for my depression because I’m very weary of medications. How can I be sure these drugs are safe?

This is a very common concern and you’re not alone! We realize that seeking the treatment method that is right for you can be difficult. Although medications can seem like an “easy way out,” this is simply not the case. Depression is a health concern that can be treated like any other illness, and if this includes using medication, then that’s totally normal.

First, you’ll want to talk to your doctor to make sure that adding an anti-depressant to your current regimen won’t have any dangerous side effects or interactions. They’ll help you find a dosage that is right for you, making sure to only go with what you’re comfortable with. During your first couple weeks you’ll just want to monitor any negative side effects to tell if this option is going to work for you. We hope you can find a solution!
