If shingles started on one side of my body, is it possible that it could appear on the other side in the future?

Yes. Since shingles come from the chicken pox virus, it can be activated and reactivated at any time, causing a painful rash (shingles) on one side of the body. Weakened immune systems in people who have already contracted varicella-zoster are susceptible to reactivating the virus as a condition known as shingles.
