Great question! Above all else, try to gauge whether or not the residents seem healthy and happy with their care. Helpful and attentive staff members are also a good sign that the facility is worth considering. If you see any indication of unclean conditions or people left unattended when they should be supervised, you may want to keep looking. You may even want to ask residents how they feel about their stay in the community to get an idea of the culture.
