While my father is recovering from his heart surgery, he's going to need help with his day-to-day activities. I'm currently working full-time. What options are available for this situation?

Thanks to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), a federal law, certain employees in all 50 of the United States can receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year, to attend to a sick family member (spouse, child, or parent) without giving up a job or health insurance. However, it’s important to note that these benefits are only available to individuals who work for companies with 50 or more employees after having already worked a total of 52-days (1,250 hours.) More information can be found through the U.S. Department of Labor and The National Partnership for Women and Families.
